Q. Why do I need a first aid certificate, police check and working with children check?
A. Rockmybaby® requires these screening documents from you in order for you to be approved and activated on our website and to accept babysitting bookings. These documents are also required before Nannies can be introduced to our Clients for permanent Nanny roles.
Q. Can I register in more than one area?
A. The website only allows you to register in the one area initially. By editing your profile, you can update your address details to reflect a new state and suburb in the event you are relocating. Once you have updated your details you will start receiving email notifications for that area. We also ask that if you move house within your current region, please amend this on the website, so your details are always up to date.
Q. What happens if I move cities or towns?
A.If you move to a new region within Australia, you can edit your contact details and change over to another area and you will then receive notifications for that area. Please make sure that you email or call through to the area office that you are moving to, introduce yourself and request your registration details to be transferred.
Q. What do I do after I accept a babysitting booking?
A. After accepting a babysitting booking online, you are required to contact the client within 24 hours to introduce yourself. If your client asks that you meet with them prior to the job starting, depending on when the booking was submitted will determine if this is a possibility. If you have any issues regarding safety, please ensure that you follow our guidelines here at our terms and conditions page.
Q What screening do the Rockmybaby® Clients/Families undertake?
A. We do not screen our Clients. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable prior to meeting the family in person or once you arrive at a babysitting booking – please ensure you follow our guidelines for your own safety here at our Terms and Conditions page
Q. Why do I need a full driver’s licence?
A. One of our policies is for all of our nannies and babysitters to have a full driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle. This is to ensure that you can transport the children in case of an emergency and also so that you can safely return home at the end of a babysitting job.
Q. What age do I have to be to be able to join your agency?
A. Rockmybaby® believes that 21 years of age is a suitable age for nannies and babysitters to represent the agency. We do however, accept nannies from the age of 18 years should they meet the criteria of a specific job we have currently available.
Q. Are my personal details kept confidential?
A. Yes they are - all information we keep about you is kept in a secured and confidential.
Q. Why do I have to fill in a profile page?
A. The profile you submit on yourself when registering will be sent to the clients of the babysitting bookings you accept. This is to inform the client that you have accepted the booking and it also gives a little insight to who you are. Please keep this information on yourself user friendly and please do not include any personal information i.e: mobile number, or email address.
Q. Why do I have to fill in the registration contact form that is emailed through to us?
A. Once you register online with Rockmybaby® you will be emailed through our Contact Registration Form, this includes space for you to list your employment references and their contact details –please list at least two childcare related referees. The form also requires details such as medical history and other general information that we require. Please sign and return the form via email to your regional office. This then completes then registration process.
Q. Am I able to set my hourly rate?
A. Nanny rates are set by the families, you can determine what is on offer from the advertisement listed on the available jobs board. Rockmybaby® has set prices for babysitting work, please view our pricing page for clarification. Under no circumstances are you to set your own rate or ask for additional fees outside of prices advertised on the website.
Q. What are the fuel charges for?
A. If you are required to use your own car during your babysitting placement to transport children, then you are entitled to charge a mileage cost. We recommend at charge of $ 0.74 per km, please ensure you keep a correct record of distance travelled. Please note that this does not include the travel costs involved in getting you to and from a job.
Q. How is payment made?
A. Payment will be made by the client at the completion of the job - In some business to business transactions the client may be invoiced for your wages and your regional office will make payment to you. You will need to provide your regional office with a confirmation of hours worked, a Tax File Number Declaration Form (available from any Australia Post Office) and your bank account details.
Q. What is the job summary form for?
A. This is for your own personal use. Please take this form along with you to the babysitting booking. If possible you can fill out most of the booking details befoe you arrive at a job. There is section on the form if the family require you to administer medication to a child/ren. Please make sure that you take the form with you when you leave – it is for you to keep for your records, Rockmybaby® does not need to be given a copy.
Q. What should I do if a family asks if I am available to babysit for them again?
A. Under no circumstances are you to accept private bookings that have been organised directly between you and the client. If a client would like to use you again, please ask the client to include your name in the special requests section within the booking, or to email their regional office. If you have been contacted by a client to babysit again, please inform your regional manager immediately. If we find that you have been taking private bookings with clients, you will be suspended immediately and no longer part of the Rockmybaby® group. .
Q. How do I apply for a nanny job?
A. Please follow instructions on the nanny job page. Click apply, this will open your email account up, if you use Hotmail or Yahoo , you will need to manually email through along with the correct JOB ID number. Please sure that you have the relevant office email. Attach your CV each time you apply for a nanny job, make sure your CV does not have any personal contact information i.e. take out mobile phone, home phone numbers, street number, date/month of your birth date. This is for safety and security reasons – as we forward your CV onto Clients.
Q. Should I get nanny insurance?
A. Yes – we strongly recommend that all nannies take out Public Liability insurance, please contact your area office and they will let you know what type of insurance you should carry.
Q. Who pays for my tax and super?
A. In most cases Rockmybaby® does not employ you. For permanent placements the Client/Families will employ you and are responsible for your taxation and superannuation obligations. If you are self-employed and contract yourself directly to the family – you would then be responsible for your own tax obligations and you would have your own ABN number. It is your responsibility to check that you are operating within the law with regards to taxation and superannuation.
A. Once you are approved we will credit your account with 10 free SMS text credits – if you want to purchase additiona SMS text credits at any time, please follow instructions here . Rockmybaby® will give 5 FREE SMS text credits to babysitters if a Client places positive feedback about you from a babysitting bookings. If a Client is complementary about you when you finish up at a booking, please prompt them to log back onto the Rockmybaby® website and place their feedback.
